A 200 mm stainless steel intake screen installed into the Winnipeg River provides water to a low level lift pumping station.
The water plant consists of a 5.3 L/s capacity ultrafiltration membrane treatment system, a distribution pumping system capable of providing 47 L/s fire flow protection and a 424,000 L treated water reservoir. The plant was equipped with a backup power genset.
Chlorine dioxide was used for the oxidation prior to membrane filtration and was also used for secondary disinfection of the treated water. The chlorine dioxide eliminates the concern of THMs that can result from high total organic carbon (TOC) in the raw water.
